CEBU, Philippines - The Archdiocesan Commission on Youth has approved the plans for the establishment of the Dominic Savio Emergency Response Team (DSERT) in Cebu.


LIGTAS Philippines, in collaboration with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines- Cebu Council Catholic Committee, will establish the Dominic Savio Emergency Response Team in local parishes in the Archdiocese of Cebu. Fr. Andrei Ventanilla, Chairman of the Commission of Youth, approved the plans during the Catholic Committee's courtesy call in the San Pedro Calungsod Youth Center near the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. This is a joint effort in promoting Scouting and Personal Safety and Wellness in these local parishes. 


The Dominic Savio Emergency Response Team is a youth-led Emergency Response Team patterned to the training methods of LIGTAS Philippines during the activation of the Youth Task Force Ligtas. The program will also serve as a gateway to Parish-based Community Scouting Units in the BSP- Cebu Council. The name of the ERT is inspired by St. Dominic Savio, patron of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. St. Dominic Savio was known as a great intercessor for the youth, especially those in the field of service to others.

LIGTAS Philippines will be conducting a pilot testing of the program with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines - Cebu Council Catholic Committee at the Holy Cross Parish in Cebu City. 


LIGTAS is a Scout-led community safety initiative that promotes the safety, wellness, and cooperation of the members of the community. LIGTAS's flagship project, LIGTAS At Your Fingertips (or the creation of the LIGTAS App), is an made available for the community. The initiative also has other ongoing community safety initiatives such as Oplan Bayanihan, Youth Task Force Ligtas and the launch of LIGTAS Stories. - @tagaLigtasPH
